I chose to experiment using flock to continue on with the concept of integrating stained glass pattern effect – again using an open mesh/weave fabric, however i wanted to bring more of the sentimentality of the church into the textile. Flock paper has always reminded me of the feel of the church pew fabric padded cushions – slightly uncomfortable itchy on your legs and almost fluffy. However, when placed in the heat press to activate the glue binder for the flock to stick to, due to the open weave of the fabric the heated glue went through the fabric and stuck to the newspaper – this did not effect the success of the flock print, however i would place a piece of scrap fabric like calico between the newpaper and the actually fabric to stop this happening again.
