I created a wire and textile makette to experiment and see how the design would work as a functional lampshade. I wanted the wire to act in contrast to the soft textile, although  the colour is yet to be decided, and really emphasise hard craftsmanship   in an accurate form , which the wire conveys in quite an elegant and delicate way.

Two wire hoops were bent around a former, and spot welded to hold the shape. The circles were then connected through other pieces of the same wire, straightened, and spot welded around the form to create the metal cylindrical ring form that fits between the two textile rings of the lampshade, to display the eddison bulb and cast linear shadows on the surrounding area.
